B&W Film NYC

Finally got these developed from my film camera. Black and white is the most iconic way to take photos of New York and I just couldn't miss the opportunity.

Excited to go back to London...

Some old photos of Bella and I in summer in London. I just love the flowers outside Libertys, they're always beautiful! Again these are film photos, I think the natural colour wash these have complements the flower's colours wonderfully.

Back to Film

There is such romance in the concept of taking photos and rediscovering them months later. Digital photography is beautiful, there's a reason that the general population has moved away from film, but the richness of the images created in film cannot be created on a digital camera. Then theres always the delusion that I want to be part of a time where ladies could drip with pearls and be caught looking decadent with a flash.

Losing Focus.

True to form, its the final days of my degree, I'm under pressure to achieve my potential and I'm distracted and losing focus. Fortunately I have found myself procrastinating with some significantly more interesting things than usual as of late. Cat videos move aside, you've been replaced.

My dad and I routinely find ourselves wandering into Fop, a record/book/dvd/cd wonderland. This shop is fantastic because I always seem to come across books and music that I would never have discovered on my own.  This is a chain as I know there is one in London and Cambridge at least, but I'm not sure how many others there are. The one pictured above is on Shaftesbury Avenue in London. My most recent Fop find to give me the most joy has to be picking up a copy of "Tender is the Night" by Fitzgerald (for £2.50 no less) and finding it quite wonderful.

My dad has recently dug out his record collection (as he's learnt that they're cool again and has gotten a bit excited) so when visiting him I also got the pleasure of listening to vinyl, which just does sound more beautiful. This has also meant that he's been raiding Fop's shelves to find some gems.

In another bid to delay the fact that I have to actually learn quantum mechanics, I have also been falling in love with films all over again. One that I am head over heels for is Samsara. This is a documentary filmed in 25 countries over 5 years by Ron Fricke and Mark Magidson. The contrast of the fantastical, visually spectacular places with scenes that are deeply emotionally upsetting makes this film genius.
